New Craft Beer Bar to Open in St. Petersburg
The craft beer culture in Tampa Bay is expanding yet again, and this time it’s in St. Petersburg. Filling a chronically vacant space in the Tower
Plaza in downtown St. Pete will be a new craft beer bar called The Ale and the Witch. According to owner Brett Andress, there will be 32 taps to choose from, live music on a regular basis, and special events. While the Grand Opening celebration will not be until February 3 (on The Lunar New Year… fitting for the “witch”!) they are having a soft opening Wednesday night, January 26th, opening around 3pm.
The Grand Opening on February 3rd with include the Shiny Shoes Band playing some great New Orleans Jazz. Bella Brava (excellent restaurant right around the corner) is allowing guests to use their valet parking service right there on the corner of Beach and 2nd Ave NE, at the bottom of the steps to the courtyard.
My recommendation, go have a wonderful dinner at Bella Brava, then pop up to the Witch for craft beer goodness!
I got a note just this morning from Brett, indicating some of the beers he is expecting to come in. An impressive list to be sure! Here are just some of what I am excited for at St. Pete’s newest beer destination.
- Anchor Old Foghorn
- Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron
- Left Hand Twin Sister
- The Bruery Mischief
- Cigar City Jose Marti Porter
- Cigar City Tocobaga
- Pugsley Series Imperial XXXX IPA
- Swamphead Big Nose IPA
- Erie Ol Red Cease and Desist
- Southern Tier Gemini
The Ale and the Witch is located at:
111 2nd Ave NE
Saint Petersburg, FL, 33701
It is located in the patio at the bottom of the Tower Plaza. There is some 90-minute street parking as well as a parking garage.

I went last night, and it is awesome!
We have a little craft beer bar in the panhandle known as the Salty Duck. You should come by and have one of the 40 drafts we have to choose from.
Where in the Panhandle? I am always up for visiting new craft beer bars when I am travelling…
